Stocktaking ERP/ inventory systems
If there is a leading ERP system in place, the goal of every stocktake is to ensure that the system stock matches the physical stock. COSYS not only ensures a simple and error-free physical count, but also updates the system stock in the ERP system via various interfaces. For many ERP systems, we already offer standardized interfaces.
Which ERP interfaces are available?COSYS distinguishes between three types of ERP interfaces for inventory services: file interface, database interface, and web service APIs. These interfaces differ both in terms of implementation effort and capabilities. However, inventory processes rarely require complex data exchanges, making the principle of “less is more” both practical and cost-effective. The characteristics of the three interface types are as follows:
Data interface: File interfaces are well-suited for datasets that are manually synchronized once or twice a day, which is typically the case during inventory processes. For ERP systems like SAP or advarics, we already offer ready-to-use (out-of-the-box) file interfaces. These allow us to import your master data and write back the physical inventory counts after the stocktake has been completed.
WebService: If your ERP system offers a web service, this provides another simple interface for exchanging inventory data. A web service can transmit a wide range of values such as storage location, item number, EAN, and batch number—while avoiding direct access to the ERP system. Additionally, the web service eliminates the need for you to manually provide master data to COSYS. COSYS supports both SOAP and REST web service APIs, which primarily differ in their architecture and data transmission protocols.
Interface with database:Database interfaces are rarely used for inventory purposes, as their advantages—such as fast access times and real-time data queries—are typically not relevant for inventory processes. However, if neither a file interface nor a web service is an option, COSYS can still enable inventory processing via a database interface.

With the mobile app already pre-installed on the MDE device—including imported master data, user credentials, and Wi-Fi configuration—you are ready to start immediately. The app includes two main modules: Inventory and Data Transfer. In the Inventory module, employees capture storage locations and items via barcode scans and enter the counted quantity into a designated input field.
